Born on September 24, 1903 in Mita Tsunamachi, Tokyo, as the second son of three brothers, Sannosuke Osawa and Miyoko (Sannosuke studied under the architect Kingo Tatsuno, and later became the head of the second department (architecture department) of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts School of Design. (Shosuke's older and younger brothers were architects, and Sannosuke's younger sister married Ichitaro, Yukichi Fukuzawa's eldest son.)
In April 1923, he enrolled in the Department of Western Painting at Tokyo School of Fine Arts (currently Tokyo University of the Arts) (studyed drawing with Kotaro Nagahara and Mango Kobayashi, and entered Takeji Fujishima's class in his third year).
There were Genichiro Inokuma, Nagao Yamaguchi, Takanori Ogisu, Kenzo Okada, Noriyuki Ushijima, and Ryohei Koiso in the first grade, and Junji Yoshii and Kusei were in the lower grade.
1928 Graduated from the Department of Western Painting at Tokyo Fine Arts School
1932 Builds a studio at 2-666 Okusawacho, Tamagawa, Setagaya-ku, and moves there
Married pianist Kimiko Kitamura, a first-year student at the National Music School (Kimiko's father, Kimiko Kitamura, was the composer of the Nagano prefectural song "Shinano no Kuni").

Around April 1945, he was forcibly evacuated and moved to Fukuzawa.In August, his father Sannosuke passed away and he participated in the rebuilding of Nika-kai as a member.
