Three Shepherds 12 pages (60.6 x 45.5 cm) by Goto Matabei
It depicts three shepherds who, upon seeing a bright star in the night sky, seek out the place where Jesus was born and travel to celebrate his birth.
The expressions and gestures of the shepherds are imbued with humility, pure joy and deep faith.
This work is not simply a reenactment of a story, but has an open composition that invites the viewer to imagine the background to the mysterious events and allows for different interpretations.
